Ash Wednesday Service- February 22 — 12 Noon and 7:30 p.m.
The prophet Joel calls us to a place of profound hope. As we begin our 50 Day Spiritual Journey and message about following Jesus, Joel begins with these. We begin this 50 DSJ with confession and repentance, receiving ashes and the words of life. We are reminded of our baptism into the death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ, which proclaim that amazing, unlimited love for us.
"I Love To Tell The Story"
St. Mark's 9th Annual "50 DAY SPIRITUAL JOURNEY"- February 22 — April 11
What are the greatest stories to be told in life? What would be the most important messages to share with your children, with people at work, with a friend facing cancer, with a colleague who is struggling with career decisions, with a new neighbor in your community? AND, what are the "stories" that have blended your life with God forever?
"I Love To Tell The Story" is the title and start of the first line to that beloved song. I love to tell the story of unseen things above, of Jesus and his glory, of Jesus and his love. I love to tell the story, because I know it's true, it satisfies my longings, as nothing else would do. (Refrain) I love to tell the story, 'twill be my theme in glory, to tell the old, old story, of Jesus and his love."
There is God's story, this story about Jesus. THEN, there is your story of faith, our stories of how God has loved, used, inspired us individually.
This year's 50 Day Spiritual Journey will be filled with God's stories and how it intersects with ours, with many opportunities. Join us for this special journey.
Mid-week Lenten Services - Wednesdays – Feb. 29, Mar. 4, 11, 18, 25
From members of our church to special guests from the community, join us on Wednesdays as we hear how others have grown in their faith. We begin on Feb. 29 with "Music and Faith — Testimonies and Music by our church staff" — Liz Lauber, Cathy Irwin, and Don Roberts.
Mid-week Lenten Dinners - Wednesdays – Feb. 29, Mar. 4, 11, 18, 25
Mid-week Lenten dinners begin Wednesday, February 29, at 6pm. "Pot Luck" is the menu for the first dinner, so bring your dish of choice. If you're a dessert person or a hot food person, salad or whatever person, make enough to share and the dinner will be grand! Every Wednesday in March will be a different menu. Our confirmation class serves us the next meal. Dinners always start at 6pm.
RETREAT: Telling God's Story in Our Lives - Saturday, March 10
Join us for an exciting, enriching retreat led by Roberta Dukes and Gail Rodger as we explore what we truly believe, as we recognize God in our own life stories, and we learn how to share our faith with others. Activities will include icebreaker activities, creating our own "faith timeline," learning to "craft our story," A few great story tellers in our midst, fun, food and more. — Acts 4:20 - "For we cannot keep from speaking about what we have seen and heard."
